Oven-potatoes-3Potatoes is one of those ingredients that you can make in endless ways, boiled in water, fry, baked or mashed. Also it is a great source of vitamins C, B6, potassium, thiamine, riboflavin, folate, magnesium, phosphorous, iron, and zinc. So forget about that myth that potatoes are making you fat, if you cooked them on the right way are perfectly healthy and even healthier if you eat them with the skin, because the skin has the most vitamins.  (more…)

Chocolate cake with olive oil

I am always looking for new recipes, I also think that actually chocolate is healthy because makes you feel happy and if you are happy your body is feeling good, so conclusion you feel healthier, so good reason to eat chocolate. So when I came across this recipe from Nigella I couldn’t resist to test, gluten free and chocolate, why not? And then of course with olive oil, the future gold, perfect!  (more…)

Scones

I think Scones is one of our favorites at home to have with a cup of tea, typical English. Actually we go to the UK almost every year, we need to get some supplies, like English Tea, special flours that are difficult to get in Holland or they are much more expensives, or icing sugar. Then we enjoy going to the tea rooms to have a scone, the best scone ever I had in York, since then I have been searching for a good recipe, combining ingredients and this is my favorite one, still the one in York is winning but I maybe one day I get the secret ingredient.  (more…)

Cheese pie with ham and leek

This is a very simple and delicious pie to make as main course for 4 people or just as a side dish in a party, since you can make in advanced and just warm up when you are going to eat. Also for the filling you can just add whatever you can find at home, other vegetables like onions, paprikas or aubergines and the ham you can leave out or even replace for bacon or chicken, this last one is best if you first bake in olive oil with some salt and pepper.  (more…)

Chicken with Chorizo and Potatoes

Spanish-Chicken-3I love dishes that are going into the oven, they are normally slow cooking and with fantastic taste. In the winter is of course one of my favourite things to eat. Checking into my books I found this recipe from Nigella that I had to try, being Spanish any meal that has chorizo in is something to test and it was certainly not disappointing, easy to make and with great flavours.  (more…)

So I was looking into my books last week and in “Home Baked” I found this recipe that I have to try and what a good idea, it was absolutely fantastic, I had to do some corrections to the recipe because not all was ok, but still the cake has now already become one of our favourites at home, soon I will be making again.  (more…)

Kofta

Kofta-8Kofta is one of the those recipes that everybody make just some how different. I have tried many recipes from books or magazines, so making my own combination finally I got the one is perfect for me and for my family. We love it so much that normally I make a very big pan that way we can eat at least twice. It is a perfect meal to freeze. Once you tried you will make it again!  (more…)

Granola

Granola-3Granola is one of the most populars grains at this moment and if is selfmade is absolutely fantastic. You can have for breakfast or giving extra taste to your ice cream, perfect with milk or yogurt. Has a lot of vitamins but also sugars if you are not very careful. My own granola is a bit of everything and actually never taste the same because I constantly change the ingredients, depending in what I have at home at that moment.  (more…)

Minestrone Soup

Minestrone-6Minestrone soup is a fantastic meal because you can put anything you can find at home, from carrots to peppers, celery, leek, any vegetable is good. If you look in books or websites everybody has a different one, you have them just with stock or like this one with passata. It is an endless combination meal and if you make a lot, you can freeze and then the second time taste even better.  (more…)
