Pitta Bread
Some time ago my daughter was asking me to make falafel, normally we have for lunch from one of those falafel places there are. I thought I should give it a go, the falafel itself didn’t work out the way it suppose to be, so no pictures no review, but the pitta bread I made from Paul Hollywood’s book are worth to talk about. You just need some patience and you have great bread to go with anything like souvlaki, in the book you also find the recipe or with falafel, ideal. (more…)
Risotto with mushrooms
Some time ago I already made a review for risotto with mushrooms, then was from a Jamie Oliver recipe, this time is an oven risotto from Karin Luiten. The good thing from this one is that is easier because you finish in the oven with all the bouillon, so no need to add spoon by spoon, the taste is still fantastic. In her book she has 4 kind of oven risotto, good idea to try with different vegetables. Easy and simple to follow. (more…)
Chocolate cake with olive oil
Chocolate is one of those ingredients that you can use in so many ways and of course everybody love chocolate. I am always looking for new recipes, I also think that actually chocolate is healthy because makes you feel happy and if you are happy your body is feeling good, so conclusion you feel healthier, so good reason to eat chocolate. So when I came across this recipe from Nigella I couldn’t resist to test, gluten free and chocolate, why not? And then of course with olive oil, the future gold, perfect! (more…)
Chicken with Chorizo and Potatoes
I love dishes that are going into the oven, they are normally slow cooking and with fantastic taste. In the winter is of course one of my favourite things to eat. Checking into my books I found this recipe from Nigella that I had to try, being Spanish any meal that has chorizo in is something to test and it was certainly not disappointing, easy to make and with great flavours. Lemon-Poppy Seeds Cake
I love lemon, I like to use everywhere from vegetables, to risotto and of course in cake. So I was looking into my books last week and in “Home Baked” I found this recipe that I have to try and what a good idea, it was absolutely fantastic, I had to do some corrections to the recipe because not all was ok, but still the cake has now already become one of our favourites at home, soon I will be making again. Chicken Tikka Masala
Who doesn’t like Chicken Tikka Masala? I think everybody love it. I have eaten a few times using those ready sauces from the supermarket, they were not great but the taste was almost as the real thing. Finally in Jamie’s Comfort Food it was the perfect recipe, actually one of the less complicated recipes from the whole book, still quite elaborate, but absolutely fantastic in taste. (more…)
Scandi Almond Cookies
Sometimes in the weekend my family asks if I want to make some cookies, I have to say they are not really my speciality, some how they don’t turn so well as they are to be expected. These almond cookies from the GBBO are simple and everybody, even me, can make them. Although mine didn’t look very pretty, the taste was absolutely fantastic. (more…)
Pasta with Zucchini
I love pasta, you can make in so many ways, very complicated sauces or very easy and fast. This recipe from Nigella is highly recommended, specially if you don’t want to spend much time in the kitchen, in no time you have a nice dinner with quite a lot of vitamins thanks to the zucchini. (more…)
Cypriot Lamb Dish
A couple of weeks ago I decided to make this dish from Annabel Langbein, it was the first time for me to cook pastinak and it was perfect, according to my family maybe too much carrots, but I still think that it was good, I adapted a bit the ingredients and the quantity to make sure we had enough food to be able to eat twice, actually the second time taste even better, all the spices have done their extra work.
